Top Mountain Biking Trails Near the Retreat

Deschutes River Trail

Stretching roughly 15 miles between Sunriver and Bend, the Deschutes River Trail is one of the most scenic rides in Oregon. The trail follows the Wild and Scenic Deschutes River nearly the entire way, descending about 500 feet from Sunriver to Bend.
Along the ride, you’ll pass Benham Falls, Dillon Falls, Big Eddy Rapids, and Lava Island, all with incredible photo opportunities.

The terrain is mostly smooth and rolling, making it great for all ability levels, though it becomes slightly more technical near Bend. Many riders make it a one-way ride to Bend’s breweries and take a taxi or shuttle back to Sunriver.

Note: The retreat is not part of Sunriver proper and not connected to the Sunriver bike trail network.

Tyler’s Traverse

One of the newest and most popular trails in the Bend/Sunriver area, Tyler’s Traverse offers one of the longest continuous descents in Central Oregon.
Built almost entirely by machine, the trail is packed with flowy berms, rollers, and optional airtime sections - but still enjoyable for all ability levels. The upper sections feature more technical features and small jumps, while the lower section transitions into smoother, faster singletrack.

Trail details:

  • Distance: ~6 miles (can be extended with connecting loops)

  • Difficulty: Intermediate

  • Highlights: Flow trail design, optional jumps, smooth descending
