Where to golf near Sunriver and Bend

Sunriver Resort is the closest golf, five miles and about ten minutes from the house. It has Crosswater, Meadows, Woodlands, and the nine-hole Caldera Links, 63 holes in all. Crosswater is for Crosswater Club members and resort guests. Resort guests reach all three 18-hole courses by paying daily resort guest rates.

Bend is about 30 minutes from the house and has the three courses this site has long recommended. Widgi Creek calls itself Central Oregon's favorite public golf course. Lost Tracks is a Brian Whitcomb design bordered by national forest. Tetherow is a David McLay Kidd links course, semi-private, with green fees from $150 to $245. Travel Oregon counts 30 courses in Central Oregon.

How the golf courses near Sunriver and Bend compare

The table lists the six courses with the designer, access, and season that each course's own site or listing states. Drive times from the house are about ten minutes to Sunriver Resort and about 30 minutes to Bend. The resort itself says it is 15 minutes from Bend.

Crosswater at Sunriver Resort: the championship course

Crosswater is the headline course near Sunriver, a par 72 that plays 7,683 yards along the Deschutes and Little Deschutes rivers. Robert E. Cupp designed it, and it opened in 1995 as the longest course in the United States at the time. It sits on about 600 acres of wetlands and woodlands at about 4,160 feet. Its course rating is 76.5 and its slope is 145.

Golf Digest named Crosswater one of America's 100 Greatest Public Courses, and the resort hosts PGA and USGA events. Crosswater held the PGA Professional National Championship in 2001, 2007, 2013, and 2017. It was home to The Tradition, a senior major, from 2007 to 2010.

Access is the catch for a group staying off the resort. The Crosswater pro shop is accessible only to members and resort guests with tee times. Guests of Sunriver Resort have access to Crosswater, Meadows, and Woodlands by paying the daily resort guest rates. Crosswater Club members book 7 or 10 days ahead, depending on membership. The resort's Crosswater and Play 3 golf packages are for its own lodging guests.

The 2026 season at Crosswater runs April 10 to October 18. If Crosswater is the point of the trip, call the resort at 541-593-1000 first. Ask what a group that is not staying at the resort can book before you plan the weekend around it.

Meadows, Woodlands and Caldera Links at Sunriver Resort

Meadows and Woodlands are the two resort courses most groups play. John Fought designed Meadows, which has hosted USGA and NCAA golf championships. Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed Woodlands, which Travel Oregon calls one of Oregon's finest. The resort's Stay & Play package gives unlimited play on both, with Crosswater and Caldera Links as seasonal add-ons.

Resort guests book tee times at the time of their lodging reservation and pay daily resort guest rates. Sunriver Golf Club members reserve 14 days ahead. The resort's pages do not spell out how a group staying elsewhere books Meadows or Woodlands, so call 541-593-1000. The 2026 seasons are March 20 to November 1 at Meadows and May 15 to October 11 at Woodlands.

Caldera Links is a nine-hole par 3 developed by Bob Cupp, with holes from 60 to 185 yards. Its 2026 season is April 17 to October 18. Gray's Trail, an 18-hole putting course behind the resort's Lodge, borders Meadows. It is first come, first served after registering at the Meadows golf shop. Golf Digest named Sunriver one of its top 10 destinations for family golf trips.

Widgi Creek in Bend: the public course on Century Drive

Widgi Creek is a public course at 18707 SW Century Drive in Bend. Robert Muir Graves designed it, and it plays just under 7,000 yards from the back tees and 5,000 from the forward tees. Tight, tree-lined fairways run through Ponderosa pines in the Deschutes National Forest, with large, undulating greens.

Two holes stand out. The 653-yard third is one of the longest par 5s in the country, and the 216-yard 11th is a long par 3. The practice area has a natural grass driving range with more than 25 grass hitting stations, two putting greens, and a short-game area. Readers of The Source have voted it Central Oregon's favorite public course more than 20 times. Golf Digest rates it each year among its Best Places to Play.

Tee times are booked online or at 541-382-4449. The 2026 rate card runs by season. Through April 30, 18 holes cost $55. From June 1 to September 30, 18 holes cost $125 before noon, $95 from noon to 3 PM, and $65 after 3 PM. From October 1 to closing, the rate drops back to $55. Power carts are $25 per person for 18 holes. Widgi has a full-service bar, club storage, and banquet space.

Lost Tracks in Bend: the quiet course by the forest

Lost Tracks Golf Club is at 60205 Sunset View Drive in Bend, bordered by national forest land. Brian Whitcomb designed it, with 7,000 yards cut through Ponderosa and high-desert pines, lava rock outcroppings, lakes, and sand bunkers. The terrain rolls softly, and the old-style routing avoids long walks between greens and tees.

Tetherow in Bend: the links course

Tetherow is an 18-hole, par 72, semi-private championship course at 61240 Skyline Ranch Road in Bend. David McLay Kidd, the architect of Bandon Dunes and the Castle Course in Scotland, designed it. It is a Scottish links-style course on fescue grasses, firm and fast, with views of the Three Sisters and Broken Top. Travel Oregon notes it was the first course in Oregon recognized as an Audubon International Certified Signature Sanctuary.

Golf Digest ranks Tetherow number 57 in the United States, and Golfweek listed it among the 2025 Top Resort Golf Courses in the U.S. Green fees range from $150 to $245 and include the cart, practice range, and practice balls. Rental clubs are $70 a day, and a GolfBoard or Finn Scooter is a $30 upcharge. The resort guest rate applies only when the entire party is staying on property, so a group at the house pays the standard rate.

The season runs about April 1 to November 1. Scheduled 2026 closures are May 15, June 24 to 27, July 23 to 25, and August 7. How a group books tee times near Sunriver and Bend

A group of 12 to 30 books in foursomes, with one organizer holding every reservation. Book early for summer. The resort's Stay & Play dates run March 20 to October 11, and peak dates at the house book far in advance. Sunriver Resort takes group golf requests through its group golf inquiry form, and its golf packages are not valid on group business.

Tetherow has the most structured group offer. Its golf and events staff design group golf events on request. The two-hour on-course instruction program takes 3 to 18 players, booked in groups of three. It plays as a scramble, includes a nine-hole green fee, and costs $310 a person. When the golf season runs near Sunriver and Bend

Golf near Sunriver runs roughly April to October, with Meadows open longest. On the resort's pages, the 2026 seasons are Meadows March 20 to November 1 and Crosswater April 10 to October 18. Caldera Links runs April 17 to October 18 and Woodlands May 15 to October 11. Tetherow lists April 1 to November 1. Widgi Creek charges opening rates through April 30 and closing rates from October 1.

Shoulder season is cheaper. Widgi's 18-hole rate is $55 in April and from October, against $125 for a summer morning. Tetherow's spring and fall closures are listed above. Where to eat after a round near Sunriver and Bend

The Grille at Crosswater is the resort's clubhouse-style dining room, and its page lists dinner on Friday and Saturday from 5 to 8:30 PM. It has private dining for 65 in The Grille dining room and 120 across The Grille, pub, and patio, with food and beverage minimums. The room rents for $500 from May to September and $250 from October to April.

McDivot's Cafe at Woodlands sits beside the putting green and pro shop. It serves breakfast sandwiches, burgers, and deli sandwiches. At Tetherow, The Turn Snack Shack stands between holes 9 and 10, with beer and a full bar to order ahead from the cart. Widgi Creek has a full-service bar. Most golf groups eat dinner at the house. The 12-foot dining table seats everyone at once, the wrap-around covered deck has a large gas grill, and four 8-foot picnic tables stand outside.

The house for a golf trip near Sunriver: beds, the deck, and the game room

Deschutes Riverfront Retreat sleeps up to 30 (maximum 24 adults) across 11 bedrooms and 6 baths. The bedrooms are split between the six-bedroom Lodge and the five-bedroom Cottage. For a golf group, that means kings for the people who want their own room and bunk rooms for the rest. The six-bedroom Lodge can be booked on its own and sleeps up to 18.
