U.S. Adaptive Open at Sunriver: one house ten minutes from the Meadows Course for a player's people

Sunriver Resort's Meadows Course hosts the USGA's U.S. Adaptive Open in 2027 (July 5 to 7) and again in 2028 (July 3 to 5), the week of the Fourth of July. Deschutes Riverfront Retreat is an 11-bedroom riverfront house about ten minutes from the resort that sleeps up to 30 (maximum 24 adults), so a player's family, caddie and supporters, or a volunteer crew, can stay on one property, in the six-bedroom Lodge and the five-bedroom Cottage a few steps apart, instead of across a sold-out resort week. Book early: the holiday week sells out in a normal year.

Two things are not yet published by the USGA and this table does not guess at them: the 2027 volunteer sign-up and any official lodging. Local rental managers are already telling people to book the week eighteen months out.

Who the house is for during the Adaptive Open week near Sunriver

Three groups need a house rather than hotel rooms that week.

  • A player's people: family, a caddie, a coach, friends who flew in. A player in the field has practice rounds Saturday and Sunday and tee times from Monday, and the group needs its own kitchen, early breakfasts and a quiet place between rounds.
  • A volunteer crew: a golf club, an adaptive-sports group or a company team that signs up together once the USGA opens volunteer registration, and wants to stay together.
  • Supporters making a holiday of it: two or three families following a player, who want the Fourth of July at the river and the championship down the road.

The house is not inside Sunriver Resort and has no resort access: no Cove and no Sage Springs. What it has is 11 bedrooms, two kitchens, 450 feet of private Deschutes River frontage and a dock, ten minutes from the first tee.

Accessibility at the house: what the floor plans show, and what has not been measured

A player with a mobility impairment needs facts, not adjectives, so here is what is known and what is not. The Lodge has three bedrooms on its lower floor, with the game room and a living room; the kitchen, the dining table and the Primary Suite are upstairs. The Cottage, a separate building a few steps away, has its primary bedroom, living room, dining room and kitchen on its ground floor and three bedrooms up.

Step counts at the entries, doorway widths, bathroom grab bars and the route from the parking area to each door have not been measured for this site. Ask about them in the inquiry and the answers come back as measurements, before any money changes hands. Nothing here is promised as accessible until it has been checked for your needs.

The bed-by-bed table for all 11 rooms is on large group rentals near Sunriver; the floor plans and 3D tour are on the whole retreat page.

Between rounds: the river, the deck and a quiet road ten minutes from Sunriver

The house sits at the end of a dead-end dirt road with 80 acres of forest on one side and protected river habitat across the water. A player who wants to disappear between Tuesday's round and Wednesday's final has a dock with Adirondack chairs and a hammock, a covered hot tub, and two living areas.

For the supporters, early July on the Deschutes is the Fourth of July week at the house: floating from the dock, the Village festival, and the fireworks rule (none on the property, none in Sunriver). The La Pine Rodeo runs the same week, 15 to 20 minutes south; see La Pine Rodeo and Frontier Days lodging.

Meals for a player's household and a volunteer crew

Tee times mean breakfast before dawn some days. The Lodge kitchen has a large butcher-block island, a Breville espresso machine, a Vitamix and a dishwasher; the Cottage kitchen runs a second line so the player's household eats on its own clock. The 12-foot dining table seats twelve, and four 8-foot picnic tables stand outside for the evening.

Private chefs come through the Epicurate vendor list for a group that does not want to cook championship week. The grocery run is in feeding 30 people near Sunriver.

Getting from the house to the Meadows Course and the Redmond airport

From the house: Sunriver Resort and SHARC are five miles and about ten minutes, Bend and Mt. Bachelor are each about 30 minutes, and the Big River boat ramp, a public put-in, is 2.5 miles up the road.

Parking at the house is for up to 15 vehicles, with room for vans and trailers, which can turn around on site. Redmond Municipal Airport is the regional airport; getting to Sunriver covers it and the drive from Portland. Spectator parking and any shuttle plan at the Meadows are not yet posted.

The house rules that matter for championship week

The rules that decide whether this house fits a group: the renter must be 30 or older, every booking has a 2-night minimum, quiet hours run 9 PM to 8 AM, and occupancy is capped at 30 guests (24 adults) because the home is on well and septic. Dogs are welcome for a pet fee once approved on your reservation. The full list, the deposit and the cancellation terms are on house rules and Book Now.

Fires are not allowed June through September, so the fire pit is closed that week. The property is non-smoking, and shoes come off inside. Dogs are welcome; the pet policy is on the pet-friendly page.

What the week costs and how to hold the dates

Nightly rates run about 1,000 to 4,000 dollars plus taxes and fees. For 24 adults, that is 42 to 167 dollars a person a night before taxes and fees. The Fourth of July week is the highest-demand week of the year here before the championship is counted, so check the live calendar on Book Now early and book direct to skip the channel fees. For a player's household that needs the accessibility questions answered first, start with the inquiry.
