Deschutes Riverfront Retreat is one house for a whole team: 11 bedrooms that sleep 30 (24 adults at most), four of them bunk rooms, with a washer and dryer, a kitchen built for a crowd and parking for 15 vehicles. It sits on the Deschutes River five miles south of Sunriver, about 30 minutes from Bend and 50 from the Redmond fairgrounds, which puts it on the far side of town from most fields and makes it the right call for teams that want one roof more than a short drive.

Who books a team house near Bend instead of a block of hotel rooms
Relay teams who want one kitchen and one driveway the night before Cascade Lakes Relay or Pole Pedal Paddle. Baseball families who follow a 13-year-old to a nine-day regional in July. Barns that bring riders, grooms and parents to a horse show. Wrestling and basketball programs that travel two or three teams at once in the dead of winter. Church youth groups and leadership programs that need a place where 25 teenagers can be loud until 9 PM and then quiet.
What they have in common is a headcount of 12 to 30 and an organizer who is tired of herding ten hotel rooms. One house means one check-in, one team dinner, uniforms in one washer, and the vans parked in a row. The pages below take each event in turn; this page covers what is true for all of them.
- Cascade Lakes Relay team house: late June, 12-runner teams and their vans.
- Pole Pedal Paddle team lodging: mid-May, from Mt. Bachelor to Bend.
- Baseball tournament lodging near Bend: Memorial Day weekend, NCS tournaments, the Junior League West Region in July.
- Equestrian team lodging: the OHSET state meet in May and the High Desert Classic in July.
- Oregon Wrestling Classic team lodging: mid-January in Redmond.
- Middle school basketball championships lodging: two March weekends.
- Youth group retreat lodging: church groups, leadership programs, scouts.
- La Pine Rodeo and Frontier Days lodging: the Fourth of July weekend, 15 to 20 minutes south.
- U.S. Adaptive Open lodging: the USGA championship at Sunriver Resort's Meadows Course in 2027 and 2028, a player's family or a volunteer crew.
Drive times from the house to the fields, gyms and courses around Bend and Redmond
The house is in Three Rivers, south of Sunriver. Every venue in Bend is 25 to 40 minutes away, and the Redmond fairgrounds are closer to an hour. Plan the morning around that: an 8 AM first pitch at Pine Nursery means cars leave at 7. The trade is three private acres on the river instead of a parking lot, and a team that is together at dinner.
| Venue | What happens there | From the house |
|---|---|---|
| Mt. Bachelor | Pole Pedal Paddle start; ski, bike-park and trail races | about 30 minutes |
| Riverbend Park and the Old Mill, Bend | Pole Pedal Paddle and Cascade Lakes Relay finishes | about 30 minutes |
| Vince Genna Stadium and Skyline Sports Complex, Bend | Baseball and softball tournaments | about 30 minutes |
| Caldera High School, SE Bend | Junior League West Region games, high-school events | about 25 minutes |
| Big Sky Park and Pine Nursery Park, NE Bend | Lacrosse, soccer, baseball, sand volleyball | about 40 minutes |
| J Bar J Ranch, SE Bend | Oregon High Desert Classic horse show | about 35 minutes |
| Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center, Redmond | OHSET state meet, Oregon Wrestling Classic, middle school basketball | about 50 to 55 minutes |
| La Pine fields and the La Pine Rodeo Grounds | Some Memorial Day Bash baseball games; the La Pine Rodeo and Frontier Days | about 15 to 20 minutes |
| Sunriver Resort, Meadows Course | U.S. Adaptive Open, 2027 and 2028 | about ten minutes |
Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) is about 40 minutes from Sunriver Resort and has direct flights from Seattle, Portland, the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Denver, Phoenix and Salt Lake City, so a team flying in rents cars there. Arrival routes are in getting to Sunriver.
Where a team sleeps: athletes in the bunk rooms, parents in the kings, two buildings
The property is two buildings on one three-acre lot. The six-bedroom Lodge has three King rooms, two Queen rooms and a bunk room with two sets of twin bunks; two of the King rooms add a twin bunk. The five-bedroom Cottage next door, the original 1960s cabin, has four Full beds and a Twin bunk with its own kitchen and living room. That split is the point for a team: players and a coach in the Cottage with their own front door, parents and younger siblings in the Lodge, or the reverse.
Count beds, not people. Thirty is the cap and it includes children; 24 is the cap on adults. A team of 14 players, 3 coaches and 10 parents is 27 and fits. Two full teams with parents do not. The bed-by-bed table for all 11 rooms is on large group rentals near Sunriver; the floor plans and 3D tour are on the whole retreat page.

Laundry, team meals and gear: the kitchen, the washer and the mudroom near Sunriver
A stacked washer and dryer sits in a hallway closet by the game room in the Lodge, so uniforms run between games. The main kitchen has a large butcher-block island, double appliances and a 12-foot table that seats twelve with benches; four 8-foot picnic tables on the covered deck seat the rest, and the gas grill feeds a team. The Cottage kitchen handles breakfast for the second building.
The mudroom has a built-in bench and hooks for cleats, waders and helmets, with a rinse outside. The game room has a pool table, ping pong, an arcade cabinet and an Xbox for the hours between games, and the WiFi is 200 Mbps throughout for the coach who has to upload film. Groceries for 30 are a Costco or Fred Meyer run in Bend on the way in; the plan is in feeding 30 people near Sunriver.

Parking for vans and trailers at the house in Three Rivers
There is parking for up to 15 vehicles on site with room for vans and trailers, and trailers can turn around rather than back out, which matters for a relay team with two 12-passenger vans or a barn with a horse trailer. Tell us the rig when you inquire so we can say where it fits. The last stretch in is Chief Paulina Drive, a shared dirt road; drive it at 10 MPH, which is also the speed at which you notice the elk.
Stay-to-play rules in Bend: which tournaments you cannot book this house for
Some Bend tournaments require teams from outside the area to book through the tournament's housing company, and a team that does not can be disqualified. Read your tournament's housing policy before you book anything, including this house.
- Bend Premier Cup (soccer, July): housing through 365 Sports Travel is required for teams from 75 miles or more. This house does not satisfy that rule.
- Oregon Lacrosse Classic (Adrenaline, July): housing through EventConnect. Same answer.
- WCP Bend Memorial Day Bash (baseball, late May): housing through Event Connect, but the organizer allows an opt-out for a $350 team surcharge. One house for a 12-player team and its families usually costs less than the hotel block even after the fee; do the math on the baseball page.
- Cascade Lakes Relay, Pole Pedal Paddle, the OHSET state meet, the High Desert Classic, the Oregon Wrestling Classic and the middle school basketball championships publish no housing rule. Book wherever you like.
We have not found indoor club volleyball tournaments hosted in Bend or Redmond; the volleyball here is summer sand at Pine Nursery. If your club is bringing one to Central Oregon, tell us and we will write the page.
The house rules that decide whether a team fits near Sunriver
A coach or parent who is 30 or older books. Quiet hours start at 9 PM, which suits a team with a 7 AM departure. Dogs are welcome, including the team mascot, for a pet fee.
The rules that decide whether this house fits a group: the renter must be 30 or older, every booking has a 2-night minimum, quiet hours run 9 PM to 8 AM, and occupancy is capped at 30 guests (24 adults) because the home is on well and septic. Dogs are welcome for a pet fee once approved on your reservation. The full list, the deposit and the cancellation terms are on house rules and Book Now.
What a team house near Bend costs, and how to book it
Split 30 ways, one house usually undercuts ten hotel rooms, and the kitchen replaces three restaurant bills a day. The live calendar shows the rate for your dates. Tournament weekends in May, June and July book months out, so hold your dates when the schedule drops.
Nightly rates run about 1,000 to 4,000 dollars plus taxes and fees. For 24 adults, that is 42 to 167 dollars a person a night before taxes and fees.
What teams and youth groups said
“Scott was very responsive, and the home was very comfortable on a beautiful property. we were traveling for a softball tournament and all that stayed there had a great time. Great for larger groups.”
“We were in the area for a youth leadership training institute. This beautiful home was the perfect location for our group of student leaders. There was plenty of room for everyone and fun activities available for the youth in between sessions. Being able to stay in one location, sharing meals and cleanup duties together created a much more cohesive and bonded group than if we had placed the students in hotel rooms.”
