Groceries in La Pine: Grocery Outlet on Highway 97

The grocery stop in La Pine is Grocery Outlet Bargain Market at 51420 U.S. Highway 97, which opened in February 2017. The Bend Bulletin's opening story also named Ray's Food Place and Shop Smart as other grocery stores in 2017, plus several smaller markets and convenience stores, and a Dollar Tree in the same building as Grocery Outlet. Prices and hours are not listed here: check the store before a big run.

For a group of 30, La Pine is the top-up run, not the first one. The first load for the 12-foot dining table and the kitchen usually comes from Bend, where Costco, Trader Joe's, Fred Meyer and Whole Foods are. The Sunriver Country Store covers the essentials closer to the house. Where to eat near Sunriver covers the grocery run and the restaurants in one place.

La Pine Ace Hardware and Building Supply is at 51615 Huntington Road, La Pine, OR 97739. Its online listing shows grills and outdoor cooking, charcoal, wood and pellets, grill accessories, kitchen tools, coolers, chainsaw and lawn-mower accessories and Champion generators, with store pickup offered. For a long stay at the house, that is where a forgotten grill accessory or a cooler might come from without a drive to Bend.

The house supplies a large gas grill on the covered deck, four 8-foot picnic tables, about 16 folding chairs and some folding tables. Bring your own water toys and PFDs; none are provided. This page cannot confirm that any item is in stock.

It is staffed by physicians, physician assistants, family nurse practitioners, registered nurses and X-ray technicians, and it offers an online tool to check wait times before you leave. It is an urgent care clinic, not an emergency room.

A group of 30 with children, grandparents and a disc golf course has reason to know this address before anything happens. Put it on the fridge at the house with the clinic's phone number. For an emergency, call 911. The site gives no distance from the house to the clinic, so allow the Sunriver-to-La Pine figure of about 25 minutes.

La Pine Frontier Days and Rodeo: confirm the dates

The City of La Pine lists La Pine Frontier Days & Rodeo as a multi-day event. The city's page, when opened for this guide, still showed the 2017 schedule, running from 7 a.m. on July 1 to 11 p.m. on July 4, so confirm the current year's dates with the organizer before building a weekend around it. A group staying at the house over the holiday should also remember that fires are seasonal: there are no fires June through September, so the fire pit is closed in July.

Quiet hours at the house run 9 PM to 8 AM, which matters after a rodeo night. The music policy applies too. No amplified music: no DJs, no subwoofers, no professional music setups. Live music ensembles and small Bluetooth speakers are fine. If unsure, please ask.

Getting between Sunriver, Three Rivers and La Pine

Drive. Rome2rio puts Sunriver to La Pine at 16.5 road miles and about 25 minutes by car, and it lists no direct bus between the two. The only transit it shows is a Highway 97 Connector bus paired with a taxi, which is not practical for a group.
